Apple Chutney Recipe

When we talk about chutneys, how we can miss sweet and tangy Apple Chutney Recipe. From very old days, My Daadi used to make it. Most important thing you need while making it is, heavy bottom pan and alot of patience. It is easy and simple, just you have to make it over low flame to get best aroma of green apples instead of burnt flavor. So lets start with ingredients.

Ingredients for Apple Chutney Recipe:

  • 1 kg green apples, peeled and chopped
  • 200 gm onion, copped
  • 400 gm brown sugar / jaggery / sugar
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp chilli flakes / crushed red peppper
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • Salt as per taste

Method:

  • Take a heavy bottom pan.
  • Add all the ingredients into the pan and bring it to boil on medium heat.
  • Then turn the heat to low heat and over the pan.
  • Keep the chutney cooking for around 40 – 50 minutes or till whole liquid will be evaporated and you will get thick consistency.
  • Taste the chutney and add salt, sugar or chilli as per your taste and stir well. If you like it more spicy it will take more than 2 tsp of chilli flakes :).
  • Once done store it in air tight glass container in fridge.
  • Once refrigerated, it ready to serve.
  • You can preserve this chutney for upto 10 days.

Note: You can use normal apples as well, if you cannot find green apples, but tangy taste comes better with green apples.
