Veg Momos Recipe

Momos, its a Indian variant of famous dimsum from Nepal or China. Its a quick tasty starter or evening snack, when your taste buds want something different than usual. You can steam them or fry them, as per your wish. I like it steamed so recipe will be accordingly, but if you want to fry just change last few steps from steamed to deep fry till golden brown in colour. Filling in momos are kept less spicy and salty so it can balanced with hot schezwan sauce, we are going to serve it with.

Ingredients for Veg Momos Recipe :

  • 1 cup all purpose flour/maida
  • 1/2 tsp oil for dough
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
  • 2 small sized spring onions, finely chopped with greens
  • 3 to 4 small garlic/lahsun finely chopped
  • 1 tsp soy sauce. add as required
  • 1 tbsp oil for filling
  • salt as per taste


  • Take All purpose flour, salt and oil in a bowl and mix it well.
  • Use a little bit water and knead to a firm dough.
  • Cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep it aside for about 30 minutes.
  • In a Pan, take 1 tbsp oil, add garlic and sauté for 2 – 3 seconds.
  • Add the vegetables and saute them for 2 minutes and add soy sauce and a little bit salt.
  • Cook it for another 1 minute and turn off the heat.
  • Make small balls of dough, flat them with rolling pin.
  • Fill the flatten dough with vegetables.
  • Folding all sides close the dough with vegetable inside to give it momos’ shape.
  • Take a double boiler or steamer pan and grease it with oil.
  • Place you momos in the pan and steam it for 10 – 15 minutes in medium flame.
  • Serve it hot with hot and spicy marinara sauce.
